Important Notice for Delinquent Taxpayers
On November 27, 2013, Act 93 of 2013 was signed into law and became effective January 26, 2014. This Act amends the Municipal Claim and Tax Lien Law (the "MCTLA") to provide for claims for property taxes to be reduced to judgment for money when said claims become absolute under Section 311 of Real Estate Tax Sale on the first day of January following receipt of a Return to Claim Notice.
So if an owner does not pay the real estate taxes on his or her property, that judgment will now, in effect, attach to any and all other property that person may own in the same County as the Judgment.
In order to assist Title Companies and abstractors the Tax Claim Bureau shall offer a Certified Tax search on all properties owned by the delinquent taxpayer in exchange for the payment of an additional fee.
